dust motes feather down
as daylight rests within jade
peace for a moment
Month: October 2022
30 October 2022
like the grass slowing
as light slants to the year-end
rest now in the dark
29 October 2022
cows on the footpath
hip-deep in thistle-tatters
give me the side-eye
28 October 2022
shining white and gold
through the bottom of my cup
a sliver of moon
27 October 2022
crows skim my skylight
on wild grey breakers of air
all day stuck indoors
26 October 2022
a silver-dark fish
drawing the cormorant down
through the water’s skin
25 October 2022
soft sillage of light
as if dark could never fall
between the fig leaves
24 October 2022
the rain’s a river
gritty trickle on my palm
a little lifeline
the little blue lights
telling me what time it is
although I don’t care
in darkness my kitchen ticks
over into tomorrow
23 October 2022
autumn unfolding
wind in the space between leaves
the hill’s shape through trees
22 October 2022
a small pinch of dust
between skirting board and stair
where the brush won’t reach
the soil of a new country
where something hopeful might grow
